Support Victims of the NFL Headquarters Shooting in NYC: Aid Following Shocking Midtown Attack

How will funds be used?

Donations will support the families of the four people killed—heroes including a police officer and building staff—and the injured NFL employee. Funds will cover funeral expenses, medical and counseling services, long‑term mental health care, and bereavement support. Contributions can be directed to first‑responder charities, police relief funds, and nonprofits supporting workplace trauma survivors.

The Story

A mass shooting in Midtown Manhattan targeted the NFL headquarters on Park Avenue. Shane Devon Tamura, a 27‑year‑old from Las Vegas, opened fire in the lobby and on a building floor housing major firms. The attack killed four people: an off‑duty NYPD officer, a Blackstone executive, a security guard, and a Rudin Management associate. One NFL employee was critically injured; several others sustained minor injuries. Tamura then took his own life. He left behind a note referencing grievances with the NFL and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The tragedy is the deadliest in New York City in 25 years.

What Happened?

On July 28, 2025, in a Midtown Manhattan office tower at 345 Park Avenue, gunman Shane Devon Tamura entered with an AR‑15-type rifle and began shooting in the lobby, killing a New York City police officer and two civilians before advancing to an upper floor. He mistakenly exited onto the 33rd floor—intending to target the NFL headquarters but entering Rudin Management offices instead—where he killed another person before committing suicide. Five people, including the shooter, died; at least five others were injured, including one severely. Among the victims was NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, who intervened heroically.

Authorities found Tamura drove cross-country, assembled his weapon piece by piece, and carried medical supplies and writings revealing a belief he suffered from CTE. His suicide note blamed the NFL for brain trauma exposure and demanded his brain be studied posthumously. Mayor Adams confirmed the building houses NFL, Blackstone, KPMG, and Rudin offices. Security has been tightened and the league has temporarily closed HQ offices. Investigators are still trying to understand Tamura’s motive fully. This tragedy has reverberated through New York and the NFL community. Support for the victims and those injured is vital to healing in the aftermath.
